FAQs

What is a Prosthodontist?

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist for the re-construction and replacement of teeth. They have completed additional years of training to handle complex dental services such as reconstruction, which includes dentures, placing implants, metal-free fillings, crowns, bridges, teeth whitening and porcelain veneers. A prosthodontist may be involved in complex rehabilitation involving the whole mouth or a treatment which may only involve one tooth that truly needs to be done well. A prosthodontist always evaluates the mouth comprehensively to increase long term success.

Do I need a referral to come to your office?

No, you never need a referral to come to us — just a positive attitude to improve and enrich your life. You can be referred by a patient, a doctor, or choose to schedule an appointment on your own. Call us now to schedule an appointment and we will get you in as soon as possible.

Do you accept insurance?

Our office is happy to assist you with the attainment of payments from your benefits provider. We help you with the submissions of claims at the time services are rendered and payment is due, by mailing the insurance claim formm to your dental insurance carrier. Benefits will be paid directly to you by the carrier for your percentage of reimbursement.

Do you have payment plans?

Our office provides financing through Care Credit, Springstone and Citi Health. However, we also accept MC, Visa, AMEX, Discover and provide a 5% treatment discount for pre-paid services with fees of over $5,000.

How much does your initial consult cost?

As a specialist, we offer initial consults that consist of a complete oral evaluation which includes gum exam, tooth charting and full mouth analysis at $155. This is a full hour of private time reserved with Dr. Schmitt. It is not designed to be a quick screening, but a thoughtful discussion entirely dedicated to you. At times, it is determined that additional diagnostic materials may be necessary, such as x-rays, photographs and/or impressions of your mouth. In these more complex situations, total diagnostic fees could range up to $450.

Why would I choose a Prosthodontist over a General Dentist for my dental needs?

The certainty and knowledge a prosthodontist has to handle the most challenging situations provides our patients with ease and reassurance that the evaluation will be accurate and the treatment will be satisfying. For many of our patients it has been life changing. Dr. Schmitt's expertise covers understanding the way the mouth functions as a whole in addition to attaining the smile you desire.
